Adult Liability Team Insurance for 2018
USA Softball has a new liability insurance program for adult teams. Instead of registering with USA Softball (without insurance) and buying either the Field Owners Insurance Plan or Team Insurance, or no insurance at all, adult USA Softball teams will now be insured as part their registration, and they can name Field Owners as additional insureds at no extra cost.
In other words, liability insurance for the teams and leagues is built into the USA Softball of Cincinnati registration fee of $30 and field owners will now be named as additional insureds at no additional cost to them or to the teams.
Once the teams are registered with USA Softball of Cincinnati, registered teams, leagues and tournaments needing additional insured certificates can go to RPSBollinger.com, click on “USA Softball” then “Adult Team Registration Certificate Request” and enter the certificate information. An email will be sent to the Commissioner asking them to approve or deny the request. If approved, the requester will receive an email with their certificates attached.
Registration for 2018 must be completed and submitted to USA Softball of [State or Metro] prior to the start of the season. Teams must provide the following information to register: Name of Team, Manager Name, Address, City, State, Zip Code, and Manager E-mail
Why the change? In the past, those in charge of the softball venues were able to purchase Field Owner Liability Insurance to cover their Field Owners for USA Softball activity on their fields. Unfortunately, the low, flat rate premium charge did not reflect the level of softball activity on those fields. A Field Owner policy would cover a field owner for 1 field or 50 fields, 5 teams or 500 teams, with no change in premium. In addition, the USA Softball Team Insurance plans proved costly and unmanageable on a voluntary basis. Therefore, the two methods USA Softball had in place for adult softball liability insurance were unbalanced with the exposure and difficult to manage. One low liability premium for each team built into the cost of USA Softball adult team registration stands as the only equitable solution for the future.
Important Note: Accident Insurance (excess medical coverage for medical bills incurred by injured players) is NOT included in this registration. Only Liability Insurance is included with the USA Softball Adult Team registration. To purchase Team Accident insurance, you will need to obtain a login from your USA Softball Commissioner. Once you have a login, go to RPSBollinger.com, click on “USA Softball” then “Buy Insurance Online.” Coverage will apply on an annual basis for your play in any softball team practice, league game or tournament game.
